Kingwood Christian Church is proud to continually partner with Family Promise of Lake Houston in a rotation of other churches to host unhoused families from our community. Typically one week per rotation, we welcome the families into Fellowship Hall. With the help of KWCC volunteers, we provide a home-cooked evening meal and sleeping arrangements for each family throughout the week. Families leave early each day, between 5:00-6:00AM to attend various activities - work, school, training, etc. During the evening other volunteers arrive to take over responsibility, including our overnight volunteers who bring their pillows and P.Js for a good nights rest and serve as an emergency resource should one be needed. Volunteers also serve in other capacities as well – shopping for groceries for breakfast and snack items for the week, setting up and tearing down the guest bedrooms at the beginning and end of the week, as well as volunteers who have a special talent they wish to share with the families during the week (example: kids/adult hair cuts).
