We confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, And proclaim Him the Lord and Savior of the World.
This confession serves as the binding tie that draws us together as a family of common faith, inviting us to share life in open-minded conversations and authentic relationships. If you are searching for a faith community that looks like this, then welcome home to Kingwood Christian Church.
Our History
Kingwood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was founded in 1977 when a group of interested families responded to an ad in the local newspaper about the organization of a Disciples of Christ church in the Humble/Kingwood area. Thirty people gathered in the Forest Cove home of Frank and Joyce Coupal on Sunday, May 1, 1977, and Kingwood Christian Church was born. At the time, Kingwood was in its infancy, and the nearest Disciples of Christ congregation was 30 miles away. Services were first held in the Woodland Hills community room and then at Woodland Hills Elementary, where every chair, table, and hymnal had to be loaded and unloaded into a trailer for worship each Sunday. In 1983, our first building, a multi-purpose metal building was completed. Completion of our current sanctuary on West Lake Houston Parkway was finished in 2001. Many of the original members are still an active part of the KWCC family today.
The Table
On October 7, 2018, Kingwood Christian Church followed God into a new chapter in our ongoing story. After over a year of prayer and planning, we created “The Table” service, a unique, authentic, and inclusive worshiping community. The Table is a fresh expression of our collective heart and calling to be an “open and inclusive faith community committed to learning and practicing the teachings of Jesus.” At Kingwood Christian Church, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, where everyone is welcome, included, and celebrated as an image-bearer of God.
