Women in Worship

By Lissa Decker

Women In Worship is a new offering coming soon to Kingwood Christian Church. This monthly worship event will focus on themes that are important to women.

There are many reasons why women should consider worshiping together. As sisters under God and in our community, the worship experience helps us to develop stronger bonds with each other while we explore themes that are relevant to women. It affords us the opportunity to focus our attention for a little while on our unique relationship with God as his feminine creation and to open ourselves up to the varied expressions of his feminine and masculine heart for us. It gives us a time to celebrate women as part of God’s creation and as his beloved daughters.

We will be taking on a different worship theme each month in our service. At times, these themes will focus on concepts such as courage, wisdom, promise, tears and joy. Sometimes, service will be rooted in practical worship concerns shared by women such as defining prayer, worshipping together, or exploring feminine divinity. Still other times we may choose to turn our attention to current events: personal, communal and worldwide.

We hope to provide a welcoming atmosphere to members of our church and community who wish to participate in this type of service. Our order of service is designed to allow for expression by all participants. We plan to also incorporate opportunities for creative expression.

Our first service is planned for the evening of June 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.  Childcare will be provided.

There is a unique feeling that comes from women worshiping together and it is hoped that these experiences will be of value to our church and our community.
